The multisclae challenge of climate modeling

Abstract
The atmospheric component of Earth's climate system operates across a wide range of time and space scales. Physical and dynamical processes important to the climate system range from planetary length scales (107 meters) down to cloud microphysical length scales (10(-6) meters). This talk will discuss the challenges of where best to truncate the explicit mathematical representation of the climate system and how to treat the comparably important non-resolvable scales of motion.
