Covariance specification in climate change detection and attribution

A common approach in detection studies is to estimate the spatial covariance by using control run ensembles and then use it for all test statistics in the study. The effects of miss-specifying the covariance matrix for the test statistics involving observed data will be investigated through a simulation study.
