JACKPOT! We got a deal on rooms at the Millennium Harvest House, a huge step up from the CU dorms. Directions to the Millennium are in the Transportation section. The hotel has a lot to offer, check out their www-site. DEADLINE APRIL 28, 2003

Getting to/from NCAR and the Millennium

We have chartered a bus to provide limited transportation (that is: only a couple times per day) from the Millennium to NCAR's Foothills Lab. The bus will move everyone en masse to and from the Millennium and NCAR once in the morning and again after the days' activities.

Since Monday has some preliminary work, the bus will leave the Millennium at 8:00 7:45 Monday morning. Every other day it will leave the Millennium at 8:15AM. The bus will make one trip back to the Millennium from NCAR when the day is done. However, with the trails and Boulder's excellent bus system, getting around is not a problem.

There are a couple of City busses that get you from NCAR's Foothills lab back to the Millennium if need be. All route information is available from Denver RTD. Take the 208 East to Arapahoe & 55th and then connect with the JUMP back to the hotel at Arapahoe & 28th.

NCAR's Foothills Laboratory

Is located in NE Boulder, CO and has excellent hike&bike trails. There is also a free shuttle van that circulates between the various NCAR locations in Boulder, which provides great access to the hiking near the Mesa Lab. The workshop will take place in the building marked FL2.

Close to the Millennium

The JUMP is a city bus that circulates between Arapahoe and 28th (very close to the Millennium) and Boulder's "crown jewel" -- the Pearl Street (pedestrian) Mall. Make sure you get on the bus heading toward the mountains, otherwise you get a scenic tour to the town of Lafayette, about 10 miles to the East. Clean, efficient, $1.15. Of course, it's only about a mile-and-a-half if you walk it, and walking along the Boulder Creek Path is one of the most charming things about the City, if you ask me.

On the Pearl Street Mall, you can people-watch till your aura is way out of alignment. Definitely bring any crystals you want cleaned. Spiritually OR physically, it doesn't matter. Did I mention lots of great, unusual or quirky restaurants? I think the brew-pub to McDonalds ratio is something like 5:1 -- always a good sign. Follow Montse to the Med for the best paella this side of the pond. Excellent tapas ... umnnnn ... calamari ...

If you want to poke around the rest of Boulder, check out the GO Boulder site for lots of pedestrian- and bike-friendly maps and Boulder-specific bus routes.
