NCAR's Geophysical Statistics Project -- GSP

The mission of the Geophysical Statistics Project (GSP) is to encourage the application and further development of statistical analysis to the problems faced in the Earth sciences.

GSP is an institution-wide effort at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and is funded by the Division of Mathematical Sciences of the National Science Foundation. GSP is administratively housed in the Institute for Mathematics Applied to Geosciences (IMAGe) of NCAR at the Mesa Lab in beautiful Boulder, CO.

"The most fruitful areas for growth of the sciences are those between established fields. Science has been increasingly the task of specialists, in fields which show a tendency to grow progressively narrower. Important work is delayed by the unavailability in one field of results that may have already become classical in the next field. It is these boundary regions of science that offer the richest opportunities to the qualified investigator." -- Norbert Wiener
